キーウィバードのはく製です。空は飛べませんが愛くるしいです。キウイフルーツの語源なのはご存知でしたか。

This is a stuffed of kiwi bird. Kiwi bird can't fly but charming. Do you know that kiwi bird is the origin of the word kiwifruit?

タウランガ市へ贈ったガラス製の衝立です。源氏物語がデザインされていて光が差し込むと色鮮やかに輝きます。

This is a screen made by glass which we presented to Tauranga City from Hitachi City.
This screen is designed with the Tale of Genji and shines brightly when the light shines through it.

1990年　第5回姉妹都市交換研修生のタウランガ市訪問（神永が引率）
タウランガ南小学校訪問では、高校生たちがそれぞれの部屋に分かれて「日立の紹介」をしましたが、その風景です。

I went to Tauranga City to lead the 5th Sister city exchange students group in 1990.
They were divided into different rooms for introducing Hitachi City at Tauranga South Elementary School.

1990年　第5回姉妹都市交換研修生のタウランガ市訪問
昼食の折に地元の中学校を訪問し、みんなで現地の生徒たちと記念写真をパチリ。

I went to Tauranga City to lead the 5th Sister city exchange students group in 1990.
When we had a lunch, we took a group photo with students at a local school.

1994年　Tauranga Boys School のラグビーチームが来市
ハイマン監督が率いる「タウランガ・ボーイズ・カレッジ」ラグビーチーム33名が日立市を訪れた際に開かれた歓迎会の様子。

Tauranga Boys College's rugby team visited Hitachi City in 1994.
This is a photo of welcome party for 33 members of the team led by coach Hylman.

1996年　ノエル・ポープ市長を訪問
タウランガ市でノエル・ポープ市長を訪問した際の写真、マーガレット・クーパー氏の顔も見える。
ポープ市長は気さくな方で姉妹都市提携を進めた方です。
マーガレットさんは姉妹都市担当として長年、日立市とも交流のある方です。

We did courtesy visiting to Mr. Noel Pope, mayor of Tauranga City in 1996.
Mrs. Margaret Cooper is in this photo too.
Mayor Pope is friendly person and he promoted the sister city programs.
Mrs. Cooper had been in contact with Hitachi City for many years as the person in charge of sister city programs.

1996年　レネ・シャーディンさんご一家
レネさんをご存じの日立市民は多いはず。
Tauranga Boys Collegeの生徒引率として何回も日立市を訪れています。
この時にはタウランガ市でお会いし、昼食をレネさん宅でご家族とご一緒しました。

Mr. Rene Sjardin and his family in 1996.
There are many Hitachi citizens who know Mr. Sjardin. He has visited Hitachi City many times as a leader for the Tauranga Boys College's group.

2000年　ピランスポイント小学校
友人がこの学校の教頭先生をしていたご縁で学校を訪問したときの写真
子供たちは5歳の誕生日を迎えると入学するので毎月新入生が来る。
新入生には読み聞かせの授業が充実していた。1・2年生で読み書きが不得意な生徒たちのために特別室があり、子供に合わせたカリキュラムがあった。

Pilance point elementary school in 2000.
I visited this school through my friend who was the vice principal.
Children at this school enter school when they reach their 5th birthday, so new students enter every month.
This school had an excellent reading class for new students. There were special rooms for first and second grade children who had difficulty reading and writing, and a curriculum tailored to the children.

Mt.Mounganui　タウランガ港入口にあるタウランガ市のアイコン「マウンガヌイ山」
友人と一緒に山頂へのハイキングの時に撮影
ここはかつてマオリの砦があったところで、マオリの神話にも登場する有名な山です。

Mount Maunganui, which is located at the entrance to Tauranga Port and symbolizes Tauranga City.
This is a photo taken during a hike to the summit of the mountain with my friend.
This is the site of a former Maori fort and is a famous mountain that appears in Maori mythology.

We took a photo with Mr. Dave Roy who is an artist in Tauranga City.
It's been almost 30 years since we become brother and sister. He was also good friend with my grandchildren and promised to see them again.

They were able to make cotton candy very well.
