1994年7月　高校2年生の時にニュージーランド研修に行った際に撮ったMt.Maunganuiです。

I took a photo of Mt.Maunganui when I went to study in New Zealand when I was a second year high school student in July, 1994.

2023年8月8日　今年の夏休みでのホームステイ　タウランガ市の中学校

I did a homestay during my summer vacation and visited a junior high school in　Tauranga City on August 8th, 2023.

2013年　娘がタウランガ留学した時に、近くにあるホビット村でホストファミリーと撮りました。
衣装は、大きな布をその場でザクザク切って作ったそうです。

My daughter took a photo with her host family in Hobbiton Village when she studied abroad in Tauranga City in 2013.
The costumes were made by cutting large pieces of cloth at there.

2013年　娘がタウランガ留学した時に、現地の友達とサマーキャンプで撮影。
とても仲が良く、先生にマオリと間違えられるほどでした。。

My daughter took a photo with local friends in the summer camp when she studied abroad in Tauranga City in 2013.
She was often taken for a Maori from teachers because they got on great together.

1999年3月　タウランガ市でホームステイをしました。Gate Pa小学校を訪問しNZの小学校について学んだり、子供たちに書道や折り紙など日本文化を紹介しました。

I did a homestay at Tauranga City in March, 1999.
I learned about school education in New Zealand at Gate Pa elementary school and introduced Japanese culture such as calligraphy and origami to children.

1992年11月4日　記念植樹 タウランガ公園にて　日立市民タウランガ市親善訪問団 34名参加
31年前の木は大きくなったかなー 見てみたいです。

I was a member of Hitachi Citizen Delegation, there were 34 people in this group.
We participated in a memorial tree-planting ceremony at Tauranga Park on November 4th, 1992.
I'd like to see the tree and I wonder how big it got!

ガールスカウト日立市国際交流委員会　Girl Scouts Hitachi International Exchange Committee

ニュージーランドでは、沢山のビーチに行きました。
夕日が沈む瞬間にビーチに行った時、空がオレンジ色に染まり、海がより輝いていたのがとても美しかったです。

I went to a lot of beaches in New Zealand.
When I went to the beach at the moment of sunset, the sky turned orange and sea shone brighter.
It was so beautiful.

Welcome partyでいただいた夜ご飯です。初めて羊の肉を食べたけど臭みはなくとても食べやすくて美味しかったです。

This is a photo of the dinner at the Welcome party.
I ate lamb for the first time.　It doesn't have a gamy smell and really good taste.

タウランガ市にある大学でマオリ族のパフォーマンスを見て、日本のスカウトのみんなでソーラン節を披露しました。
ここの大学は私の家にホームステイしたスカウトの通っている大学でもあり、他の国の大学を見ることができてとても楽しかったです。

We watched performance of Maori at university in Tauranga city and we performed the Soran-bushi.
This is an university where my host family's member goes. I really enjoyed seeing an university in other countries.

記念式典のプログラムの中で、小川市長から預かった親書を、アン・トーリー委員長（市長代行）に直接お渡ししました。
トーリー委員長は、タウランガ市から8,900キロメートルも離れた日本から、はるばるやって来た私たちを温かくもてなしてくれました。

We gave a letter from Mr. Ogawa, Mayor of Hitachi City to Hon. Anne Tolley, Commission Chair, Tauranga City Council at the memorial ceremony in Tauranga City.
She warmly welcomed us all the way from Japan, 8,900 kilometers away from Tauranga City.

式典でマオリ族の発表を披露してくれた子どもたちと交流したときの写真です。
自分よりも年下の子が、地域の伝統を受け継いで披露している姿に感動しました。

This is a photo that we interacted with children who performed the Maori traditional dance.
I was really impressed to see children younger than myself performing and carrying on the traditions of the community.

タウランガ市と日立市の姉妹都市提携35周年式典へ参加したあとの写真です。
交流に深く関わってくださっているネリーさんとアフタヌーンティーを楽しみました。

This is a photo that we participated in the　the memorial ceremony to celebrate the 35th anniversary of the sister city affiliation between Hitachi City and Tauranga City in Tauranga City.
We enjoyed afternoon tea with Nelli-san who is deeply involved in our exchanges.

派遣5日目、海沿いにある別荘から撮った写真です。
テラスで夕食を取っていた時、ふと回りを見ると、このような美しい景色が広がっていました。

This is a photo that I took from a villa by the sea on the fifth day of dispatch.
When I had a dinner on the terrace, I looked around and saw this beautiful view.

ニュージーランドで有名な絵本“Hairy Maclary”に登場する犬たちの銅像が並ぶ公園です。
現地の子供たちが跨って遊んでいて、和やかな雰囲気が心地よかったです。

This park has statues of dogs from the famous New Zealand book "Hairy Maclary".
Local children were playing astride and the friendly atmosphere was really pleasant.

1988年4月17日　日立サンピアでの姉妹都市締結のお祝い
振袖を着て日本の文化でおもてなしをしました。

We celebrated the sister city affiliation between Hitachi City and Tauranga City at Hitachi Sanpia on April 17th, 1988.
We wore furisode (long-sleeved kimono) and welcomed them with Japanese culture style.

久慈小学校の生徒さんたちと一緒にNZの旗を振り、お出迎えをしました。

This is a photo that we paticipated in the memorial ceremony to celebrate the 35th anniversary of the sister city affliation at Hitachi Sanpia on April 17th, 1988.
I waved the NZ flag and welcome them with the children of Kuji elementary school.

娘が、あでやかな振り袖姿でお琴を演奏しました。

We celebrated the sister city affiliation between Hitachi City and Tauranga City at Hitachi Sanpia on April 17th, 1988.
My　daughter wore beautiful furisode (long-sleeved kimono) and played the koto（traditional Japanese instrument） at the memorial ceremony.

2000年　タウランガボーイズスクールとのウエルカムパーティー
ガールスカウトの中高生とヤングリーダーが折り紙などでの楽しい時間を共有しました。

We held the Welcome Party to Tauranga Boys College's students in 2000.
Girl Scout middle members and high school students and the "Young Leaders" had a fun time to fold origami and other activities.

ノエル・ポープ市長に招かれて、”Goodwill Concert”で三味線を披露しました。

 I was invited to the ”Goodwill Concert” from Mr. Noel Pope, mayor of Tauranga City, I played the shamisen (three-stringed Japanese guitar)　at the concert.

I had a session with Mr. Lee Cameron on Piano and　Ms. Christine Martin on flute in the concert.
